Treating the flu
The flu can cause an array of unpleasant symptoms, including coughing, body aches, fever, and sore throat. Unfortunately, it can also be especially dangerous for seniors, infants, and people who have compromised immune systems. Each year, thousands of people suffer flu-related deaths. For this reason, it’s important to see a provider when symptoms worsen or become unmanageable.
These days, doctors are better able to treat the flu, thanks to modern antiviral medications such as rimantadine (Flumadine), oseltamivir (Tamiflu), zanamivir (Relenza), and amantadine (Symmetrel), which can alleviate serious symptoms by reducing the duration of the illness. However, these medications are not helpful for everyone, so it is important to see a provider to determine if the medications could be beneficial for you.
With that said, it can be difficult for flu sufferers to get quick attention from family practitioners who are often too busy for immediate appointments.
With convenient hours and several center locations, PhysicianOne Urgent Care is the perfect option for flu sufferers who need quick relief. We also accept most insurance plans while providing experienced, qualified providers for all ages.
