We’ll ask how long the tick has been attached to you and if it’s been longer than 36 hours, we may prescribe a prophylactic antibiotic to reduce the risk of Lyme disease. Otherwise, we will send you home with a comprehensive treatment plan that includes information about the symptoms of Lyme disease to be on the lookout for. These include:
- A bull’s-eye rash around the bite area
- Fever
- Extreme fatigue
- Chills
- Neck stiffness
- Swollen lymph nodes
- Body aches
- Headache
Lyme disease symptoms can show up weeks after being bitten, so it’s important to come straight to our urgent care center if you start feeling under the weather or develop a rash. We will complete a physical examination and may order blood tests to determine if you have the disease. If so, antibiotics can be ordered to clear up the infection, if needed.
