Picture of a man in glasses holding his ear in pain. Are you experiencing the signs of an ear infection? If you’re in Mohegan Lake, New York, you can get the treatment you need at PhysicianOne Urgent Care. We skillfully treat ear infection symptoms on a walk-in basis, and we can recommend the approach that’s best suited to your condition, whether that includes antibiotics, pain medication, anesthetic ear drops, or something else.

What Is a Middle Ear Infection?

The most common type of ear infection is a middle ear infection (also referred to as “acute otitis media”). True to its name, a middle ear infection develops when the middle ear (the space behind the eardrum) becomes infected with a virus or bacteria. Ear infection symptoms may include:

  • Ear pain (this often worsens when lying down)
  • Difficulty hearing
  • Fluid drainage

Not every ear infection requires professional treatment, but you should be sure to consult with a medical provider if your symptoms last longer than one day or include severe pain or drainage of blood, pus, or another fluid. Children under six months old should always receive treatment for ear infection symptoms.

"I had to take my son in for an ear infection following a sudden change in temperament at daycare. He was inconsolable the entire car ride but when we got there and by the time we left this care facility he was back to his normal happy go lucky little two year old boy. I highly recommend PhysicianOne Urgent Care."

Patient
Westwood, MA

"I wanted to take a moment to thank you for the attention you gave me last week. My son was started on antibiotics and ear drops. Within 24 hours he began to feel better. The poor kid had been going to school in tears because he was afraid of missing any more days, but feeling (and looking) just awful! He's not been able to even think about lacrosse practice, but thanks to starting him on antibiotics, he was thrilled to return to practice today."
