The skilled providers at our local immediate care center have extensive experience removing ticks, assessing bites and rashes, and administering the appropriate treatments, so you can trust that they’ll supply you with the first-rate care you deserve.

Tick Removal Instructions

If the tick is still attached to your skin, here are the steps you’ll need to take to safely remove it:

  • Grasp the tick as close to your skin as possible using a pair of fine tweezers.
  • Gently pull the tick away from your skin using firm, steady pressure (avoid squeezing/puncturing the tick and making any twisting movements).
  • Place the tick into a lidded container or a Ziploc bag.
  • Use rubbing alcohol or soap and water to cleanse the tick bitemark, your hands, and your tweezers.

A trained clinician—such as those at PhysicianOne Urgent Care—can assist you with this process. And even if you successfully remove a tick yourself, you should still speak to a provider soon afterward so that they can evaluate your condition and recommend any necessary follow-up treatments (in that case, please bring the tick with you to our office in an enclosed container).

The Team to Choose for Tick Bite Treatment

Because the risk of developing Lyme disease and resulting symptoms increases the longer a tick is attached to a person’s skin, it’s critical that you don’t delay seeking treatment for a tick bite. Luckily, PhysicianOne Urgent Care’s Brockton immediate care center is open 365 days per year during extended hours, and we always accept walk-in patients (as well as those with prebooked appointments). You’ll find us conveniently located at 1340 Belmont Street. Plus, even if our office is closed, you can still speak to one of our experienced practitioners using our 24/7 telemedicine service.

"The overall care I received was excellent! I also appreciate your affiliation with Yale New Haven Hospital."

Derby, CT

"Throughout the visit I felt like the staff really cared. The Doctor took his time talking with me about my symptoms, and I felt like he listened to all my concerns and took that into consideration when recommending the right treatment. Thank you!"

Hamden, CT

"I had to take my son in for an ear infection following a sudden change in temperament at daycare. He was inconsolable the entire car ride but when we got there and by the time we left this care facility he was back to his normal happy go lucky little two year old boy. I highly recommend PhysicianOne Urgent Care."

Westwood, MA

"I wanted to take a moment to thank you for the attention you gave me last week. My son was started on antibiotics and ear drops. Within 24 hours he began to feel better. The poor kid had been going to school in tears because he was afraid of missing any more days, but feeling (and looking) just awful! He's not been able to even think about lacrosse practice, but thanks to starting him on antibiotics, he was thrilled to return to practice today."
