Do You Need Muscle Strain Treatment in Stratford, CT?

A muscle strain, also known as a pulled muscle, happens when a muscle is torn or overstretched, often due to overuse, fatigue, or improperly using the muscle. Most muscle strains occur in the hamstrings, lower back, neck, and shoulders, and result in the following symptoms:

  • Sudden pain
  • Limited range of motion
  • Soreness, stiffness, or weakness of the muscle
  • Muscle spasms
  • Bruising or discoloration around the affected area

Often, a muscle strain can be treated at home using the RICE method: rest, ice, compression, and elevation. However, if you heard a popping sound when you were injured or are still in pain after a week of at-home remedies, you may want to come to PhysicianOne Urgent Care for medical treatment. We have a facility located in Stratford, Connecticut, that’s open seven days per week and serves patients of all ages.

Urgent Care Muscle Strain Treatment

When you visit our urgent care center for medical treatment for a muscle strain, one of our experienced practitioners will conduct a physical exam and learn how the injury occurred. Your practitioner may request that you have an X-ray done to see if there is any fluid around the joint or to rule out a fracture. We have on-site digital X-ray capabilities to take care of this imaging test quickly for you.

Once we’ve diagnosed the extent of your injury, a comprehensive treatment plan will be developed. For some patients, splinting the injury can help immobilize the muscle to promote healing. We may also recommend seeking physical therapy or an orthopedic specialist for further care. For many patients, though, we’ll simply advise continuing to rest the injured muscle, take anti-inflammatory medication, and use heat/cold therapy as needed.

"I had to take my son in for an ear infection following a sudden change in temperament at daycare. He was inconsolable the entire car ride but when we got there and by the time we left this care facility he was back to his normal happy go lucky little two year old boy. I highly recommend PhysicianOne Urgent Care."

Patient
Westwood, MA

"I wanted to take a moment to thank you for the attention you gave me last week. My son was started on antibiotics and ear drops. Within 24 hours he began to feel better. The poor kid had been going to school in tears because he was afraid of missing any more days, but feeling (and looking) just awful! He's not been able to even think about lacrosse practice, but thanks to starting him on antibiotics, he was thrilled to return to practice today."
