And regardless of the time of day, we never require appointments, but you can always streamline your visit by checking in online if you’d like.

Why Not Just Go to an ER?

You might instinctively head straight to a hospital emergency room whenever you need urgent care after hours. Of course, if you were facing a true medical emergency, your instinct would be spot-on. But sometimes you might need immediate care, but not necessarily emergency care.

For many people, recognizing the difference can be confusing, but here’s a general rule of thumb to help you decide: If you have a sudden illness or injury that you would feel comfortable addressing with your primary care physician, but you cannot wait for an appointment, then an after-hours urgent care visit would probably be more appropriate for you than an ER visit. An example would be if you wake up on a weekend feeling like you’ve been hit by a ton of bricks, or if you stumble while grocery shopping after work and can’t support any weight on your ankle.

Even if your health issue is clearly not an emergency, you might be tempted to err on the side of caution, and that’s understandable. Just keep in mind that before you are seen in an ER, you will likely have to endure a long wait surrounded by sick people. That’s the last thing you need when you aren’t feeling well! Plus, some of those people might be contagious. Finally, the insurance copayments and out-of-pocket costs for an ER visit are generally much higher than those for an urgent care visit—even after hours. In sum, you’ll probably have a much better experience with PhysicianOne Urgent Care.

"I had to take my son in for an ear infection following a sudden change in temperament at daycare. He was inconsolable the entire car ride but when we got there and by the time we left this care facility he was back to his normal happy go lucky little two year old boy. I highly recommend PhysicianOne Urgent Care."

Patient

"I wanted to take a moment to thank you for the attention you gave me last week. My son was started on antibiotics and ear drops. Within 24 hours he began to feel better. The poor kid had been going to school in tears because he was afraid of missing any more days, but feeling (and looking) just awful! He's not been able to even think about lacrosse practice, but thanks to starting him on antibiotics, he was thrilled to return to practice today."
