When To Go to an Urgent Care for Sore Throat Treatment

For most people, a sore throat will go away after a few days. Sucking on throat lozenges, sipping on a warm mug of tea with honey, and gargling with salt water are some of the ways you can ease the irritation of a sore throat. But if your sore throat feels especially severe or if you’ve been suffering for over a week, then you’ll want to visit PhysicianOne Urgent Care for sore throat treatment. You should also visit us if your sore throat is accompanied by any of the following symptoms:

  • A fever
  • Red spots on the roof of your mouth
  • Swollen tonsils
  • Swollen lymph nodes
  • A rash

These are signs that you may have a more serious condition called strep throat. Our urgent care center has an on-site lab, allowing us to perform rapid strep tests for our patients quickly and easily. We’ll be able to diagnose your condition within minutes, and if strep throat is confirmed, we will prescribe antibiotics to take care of the infection.

COVID-19 Testing

Are you concerned that your sore throat may be an indication of COVID-19? If so, you can count on PhysicianOne Urgent Care for COVID-19 testing. Simply schedule a Virtual Visit with our team and we’ll evaluate your symptoms through a secure videoconferencing platform. If appropriate, we’ll then register you for a test that will take place curbside.

"Throughout the visit I felt like the staff really cared. The Doctor took his time talking with me about my symptoms, and I felt like he listened to all my concerns and took that into consideration when recommending the right treatment. Thank you!"

Patient

"I had to take my son in for an ear infection following a sudden change in temperament at daycare. He was inconsolable the entire car ride but when we got there and by the time we left this care facility he was back to his normal happy go lucky little two year old boy. I highly recommend PhysicianOne Urgent Care."

Patient
Westwood, MA

"I wanted to take a moment to thank you for the attention you gave me last week. My son was started on antibiotics and ear drops. Within 24 hours he began to feel better. The poor kid had been going to school in tears because he was afraid of missing any more days, but feeling (and looking) just awful! He's not been able to even think about lacrosse practice, but thanks to starting him on antibiotics, he was thrilled to return to practice today."
