Minor Burn Treatment Available on a Walk-In Basis in Hamden, CT

Picture of a woman cooking vegetables in a skillet on a stove. For minor burn treatment in Hamden, Connecticut, trust the professionals at PhysicianOne Urgent Care. The skilled providers at our office have extensive experience treating first- and second-degree burns and will develop a treatment plan that’s customized to your specific needs.

First-Degree Burns vs. Second-Degree Burns

First-degree burns affect only the top layer of skin (the epidermis), and thus are the least severe type of burn. Symptoms of a first-degree burn are typically limited to pain and skin redness. Second-degree burns, on the other hand, also extend to the second layer of skin (the dermis). In addition to pain and redness, they may produce swelling and blistering.

If your skin feels numb or is deep red, brown, white, black, charred, or leathery, you likely have a third- or fourth-degree burn. If that’s the case, you should call 911 or get to a nearby emergency room as soon as possible. Burns this severe can be life-threatening and require emergency care.

Burn Care Offered 365 Days Per Year

First- and second-degree burns can often be treated at home. However, if your burn is wider than 3 inches, causes severe pain, shows signs of an infection, fails to improve within 48 hours, or affects your face, hands, genitalia, buttocks, feet, or a major joint, it’s important to promptly seek treatment from a professional.

Fortunately, PhysicianOne Urgent Care’s Hamden office provides walk-in minor burn treatment 365 days per year during extended hours. Stop in today (we’re located at 2165 Dixwell Avenue), schedule a 24/7 telemedicine appointment, or get more information by calling 860-650-3848.

"I had to take my son in for an ear infection following a sudden change in temperament at daycare. He was inconsolable the entire car ride but when we got there and by the time we left this care facility he was back to his normal happy go lucky little two year old boy. I highly recommend PhysicianOne Urgent Care."

Patient
Westwood, MA

"I wanted to take a moment to thank you for the attention you gave me last week. My son was started on antibiotics and ear drops. Within 24 hours he began to feel better. The poor kid had been going to school in tears because he was afraid of missing any more days, but feeling (and looking) just awful! He's not been able to even think about lacrosse practice, but thanks to starting him on antibiotics, he was thrilled to return to practice today."
