Fever Treatment

Fever Symptoms Evaluated at Our Enfield, CT, Urgent Care Center

A fever is an elevation of normal body temperature, typically above 100.4°F. A low-grade fever is a temperature between 100.4°F and 102.2°F, while a high fever is anything above 102.2°F. A high fever can be a sign of a serious infection. Therefore, you’ll want to seek professional fever treatment if you’re experiencing a high fever that lasts longer than three days, doesn’t respond to fever-reducing medication, or is accompanied by other symptoms such as sensitivity to light, a rash, a severe headache, or a stiff neck. PhysicianOne Urgent Care in Enfield, Connecticut, offers prompt treatment for fever symptoms in patients of all ages.

Treating a Fever

When you visit our urgent care center for fever treatment, you’ll be seen by an experienced provider who will take your temperature, learn about any additional symptoms you’re experiencing, and discuss your medical history. Your provider may recommend a diagnostic test to determine the underlying cause of your fever symptoms. For example, if you are diagnosed with strep throat or a UTI, we may prescribe antibiotics that will take care of the underlying infection and ease your fever symptoms. We have an on-site lab that provides prompt results for our diagnostic tests, allowing us to diagnose patients quickly and develop appropriate treatment plans for their needs.

Do You Need a COVID-19 Test?

PhysicianOne Urgent Care offers COVID-19 testing for patients with fever symptoms. If your fever is accompanied by some of the most common COVID-19 symptoms, such as a dry cough, a new loss of taste or smell, shortness of breath, or a sore throat, you may want to receive a COVID-19 test to ensure you have not contracted the virus. "Throughout the visit I felt like the staff really cared. The Doctor took his time talking with me about my symptoms, and I felt like he listened to all my concerns and took that into consideration when recommending the right treatment. Thank you!"

Patient

"I had to take my son in for an ear infection following a sudden change in temperament at daycare. He was inconsolable the entire car ride but when we got there and by the time we left this care facility he was back to his normal happy go lucky little two year old boy. I highly recommend PhysicianOne Urgent Care."

Patient
Westwood, MA

"I wanted to take a moment to thank you for the attention you gave me last week. My son was started on antibiotics and ear drops. Within 24 hours he began to feel better. The poor kid had been going to school in tears because he was afraid of missing any more days, but feeling (and looking) just awful! He's not been able to even think about lacrosse practice, but thanks to starting him on antibiotics, he was thrilled to return to practice today."
