Back-to-School Physicals

Many school districts require enrolled students to have a basic physical exam prior to attending classes. In addition to checking your child’s overall health and development, a school physical is an opportunity to confirm that his or her immunizations are up to date.

School physicals can vary based on a child’s age, but in general, a healthcare provider at PhysicianOne Urgent Care will:

  • Review your child’s personal and family medical history
  • Check your child’s heart, lungs, eyes, ears, nose, and throat
  • Evaluate your child’s vision, joints, and muscles
  • Record your child’s blood pressure, pulse, height, and weight

Sports Physicals

A pre-participation sports physical is very similar to a school physical but focuses specifically on an athlete’s health as it relates to a particular sport. The goal is to identify any issues that could increase your child’s risk of injury or affect his or her safe participation in the intended athletic activities.

When you come to PhysicianOne Urgent Care for your child’s school or sports physical, be sure to bring any forms required by the school or athletic organization, as well as your child’s eyeglasses and a list of his or her medications.

The experienced and friendly healthcare professionals at PhysicianOne Urgent Care in Derby can help ensure that your child is physically ready to take on a new school year or team sport. Come in today – we perform school, sports, and camp physicals on a walk-in basis.

Patient

"I had to take my son in for an ear infection following a sudden change in temperament at daycare. He was inconsolable the entire car ride but when we got there and by the time we left this care facility he was back to his normal happy go lucky little two year old boy. I highly recommend PhysicianOne Urgent Care."

Patient
Westwood, MA

"I wanted to take a moment to thank you for the attention you gave me last week. My son was started on antibiotics and ear drops. Within 24 hours he began to feel better. The poor kid had been going to school in tears because he was afraid of missing any more days, but feeling (and looking) just awful! He's not been able to even think about lacrosse practice, but thanks to starting him on antibiotics, he was thrilled to return to practice today."
