But Do I Need a Flu Test?
The answer is no, you probably don’t need a flu test to receive the treatment you need. Some of our patients, however, do need a flu test to rule out other illnesses that mimic the flu. During a rapid influenza (flu) test, we’ll swab your nose or throat, process the sample in our on-site lab, and then review the results with you. And, we can usually accomplish all of this in under half an hour. If it turns out that you have the flu, we’ll recommend an appropriate course of treatment, which might include an antiviral medication such as Tamiflu. If the test rules out the flu, we’ll explore other possible causes of your symptoms.
