At PhysicianOne Urgent Care, we get it. By performing school and sports physicals every day on a walk-in basis, we hope to make the process a little easier for you. What to Expect During a Sports Physical

Sports physicals focus on ensuring that a child can safely participate in a particular athletic activity. At PhysicianOne Urgent Care, our sports physicals consist of two parts: a health history and a physical examination. After evaluating all of the information gathered during the visit, our healthcare providers may be able to uncover risk factors that could potentially trigger an illness during physical activity. We can also offer helpful training tips and injury prevention guidelines.
Most sports programs require a physical examination prior to participation. Therefore, you’ll want to complete this requirement well in advance of your child’s first practice session. Whenever you have a spare moment, just stop by our urgent care center with your child and any required paperwork.

What to Expect During a Back-to-School Physical

School physicals play an important role in maintaining a child’s health and wellness. Throughout childhood and adolescence, children undergo many developmental changes. A school physical is an opportunity to confirm that a child is on the right track in terms of healthy, age-appropriate development.

As part of a school physical, our healthcare providers will ask about your child’s personal and family medical history; check your child’s height, weight, blood pressure, and vision; and confirm that all vaccinations required for school attendance are current. The start of a new school year is an ideal time to complete this assessment, which should be performed in conjunction with – rather than in place of – a more comprehensive annual check-up.

A school, sports, or camp physical can provide valuable peace of mind that your child is healthy and able to fully participate in all planned activities. "I had to take my son in for an ear infection following a sudden change in temperament at daycare. He was inconsolable the entire car ride but when we got there and by the time we left this care facility he was back to his normal happy go lucky little two year old boy. I highly recommend PhysicianOne Urgent Care."

Patient
Westwood, MA

"I wanted to take a moment to thank you for the attention you gave me last week. My son was started on antibiotics and ear drops. Within 24 hours he began to feel better. The poor kid had been going to school in tears because he was afraid of missing any more days, but feeling (and looking) just awful! He's not been able to even think about lacrosse practice, but thanks to starting him on antibiotics, he was thrilled to return to practice today."
