If your primary care provider isn’t able to fit you in for an appointment, or if your work or school schedule prevents you from visiting their office during regular business hours, you have an alternative: PhysicianOne Urgent Care. Our Norwalk, Connecticut, location proudly offers ear infection treatment on a walk-in basis every day of the year. Depending on your condition, we may be able to prescribe antibiotics, pain medication, or anesthetic ear drops.

What Are the Signs of an Ear Infection?

If a bacterium or virus has infected your middle ear (the space behind your eardrum), you may suddenly experience the following symptoms:

  • Ear pain (this may get worse when you lie down)
  • Fluid drainage
  • Difficulty hearing

Children often also experience a fever, a headache, a loss of appetite, and problems keeping their balance.

Do You Need Professional Treatment?

Most ear infections resolve on their own, without the need for medical care. But you should consult with a professional if you:

  • Have been dealing with symptoms for more than one day
  • Are experiencing severe ear pain
  • Have noticed blood, pus, or another fluid draining from your ear

Children younger than six months old will also require professional ear infection treatment.

Patient

"I had to take my son in for an ear infection following a sudden change in temperament at daycare. He was inconsolable the entire car ride but when we got there and by the time we left this care facility he was back to his normal happy go lucky little two year old boy. I highly recommend PhysicianOne Urgent Care."

Patient
Westwood, MA

"I wanted to take a moment to thank you for the attention you gave me last week. My son was started on antibiotics and ear drops. Within 24 hours he began to feel better. The poor kid had been going to school in tears because he was afraid of missing any more days, but feeling (and looking) just awful! He's not been able to even think about lacrosse practice, but thanks to starting him on antibiotics, he was thrilled to return to practice today."
