Walk-In COVID-19 Testing for Patients in Newtown, CT

Picture of a doctor holding a COVID-19 testing swab. With the coronavirus on everyone’s minds, you may be questioning whether you should get tested for COVID-19. If you’ve been exposed to someone with a suspected or confirmed case of COVID-19, or if you’re experiencing symptoms of the virus, you should get tested. Luckily, if you’re in Newtown, Connecticut, or the surrounding area, you can turn to PhysicianOne Urgent Care for COVID-19 testing.

Our COVID-19 Testing Options

As one of the area’s premier urgent care providers, we’re pleased to offer the following types of COVID-19 tests:

  • Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) tests – PCR tests, which look for the virus’s specific genetic material, are considered to be the gold standard in diagnosing COVID-19, as they’re generally more accurate than rapid tests. Results are usually returned within 24 hours but can take longer during peak periods.
  • Rapid antigen tests – Rapid tests, which look for protein fragments specific to COVID-19, aren’t as reliable as PCR tests. However, results are available significantly sooner, typically within just 15 minutes.
  • Antibody tests – These tests look for IgM and IgG antibodies within a patient’s bloodstream. A positive result can indicate that the individual was previously infected with COVID-19.

If you’re unsure whether you require a test, we invite you to schedule a Virtual Visit. After speaking with you over our secure videoconferencing platform, we’ll be able to let you know whether you need to come in for testing (and if you do, we’ll prioritize your test).

No Need for an Appointment

"Throughout the visit I felt like the staff really cared. The Doctor took his time talking with me about my symptoms, and I felt like he listened to all my concerns and took that into consideration when recommending the right treatment. Thank you!"

Patient
Hamden, CT

"I had to take my son in for an ear infection following a sudden change in temperament at daycare. He was inconsolable the entire car ride but when we got there and by the time we left this care facility he was back to his normal happy go lucky little two year old boy. I highly recommend PhysicianOne Urgent Care."

Patient
Westwood, MA

"I wanted to take a moment to thank you for the attention you gave me last week. My son was started on antibiotics and ear drops. Within 24 hours he began to feel better. The poor kid had been going to school in tears because he was afraid of missing any more days, but feeling (and looking) just awful! He's not been able to even think about lacrosse practice, but thanks to starting him on antibiotics, he was thrilled to return to practice today."
