Who Should Get Evaluated for STDs?

If you have engaged in sexual activity, you should get tested for STDs. Even if you used protection and practiced safe sex, it’s still crucial to receive STD testing since some STDs transmit skin-to-skin. Pregnant women, even those who do not have any reason to suspect they might have an STD, should also get tested as a precaution.
It’s especially important to get tested for an STD if you are experiencing any of the following symptoms:

  • Painful sex
  • A burning sensation while urinating
  • Itchy or burning genitals
  • Unusual sores on the genitals
  • Rectal pain or discharge
  • For women: off-color or odorous discharge or bleeding between menstrual periods
  • For men: testicular pain or swelling

What Does the STD Testing Process Entail?

When you come to PhysicianOne Urgent Care for STD testing, you’ll be seen by one of our medical professionals who will provide a brief physical exam. (Female patients may need a pelvic exam as well.) Then, a urine test, a blood test, and/or a swab test will be administered.
To receive STD testing at PhysicianOne Urgent Care in Brookfield, visit our facility today. We are located in the Brookfield Medical Center at 31 Old Route 7.

"Throughout the visit I felt like the staff really cared. The Doctor took his time talking with me about my symptoms, and I felt like he listened to all my concerns and took that into consideration when recommending the right treatment. Thank you!"

Patient
Hamden, CT

"I had to take my son in for an ear infection following a sudden change in temperament at daycare. He was inconsolable the entire car ride but when we got there and by the time we left this care facility he was back to his normal happy go lucky little two year old boy. I highly recommend PhysicianOne Urgent Care."

Patient
Westwood, MA

"I wanted to take a moment to thank you for the attention you gave me last week. My son was started on antibiotics and ear drops. Within 24 hours he began to feel better. The poor kid had been going to school in tears because he was afraid of missing any more days, but feeling (and looking) just awful! He's not been able to even think about lacrosse practice, but thanks to starting him on antibiotics, he was thrilled to return to practice today."
