UrgentCare 2.0: Real-Time Wait Times Online and Text Messages from the Doctor?

PhysicianOne Urgent Care offers patients the option to check current wait times online,check-in to reserve a spot in line, and receive a text message alert when it’s time to come in

CHESTNUT HILL, MA., JANUARY 12, 2017 — Where do you go for quality medical care when your primary care doctor is unavailable and a long wait in the ER isn’t warranted? For more than eight years, PhysicianOne Urgent Care has been answering that question as the trusted resource for high-quality walk-in urgent medical care in Connecticut, and now in New York and Massachusetts.
PhysicianOne Urgent Care continues to offer patients the convenience and flexibility of walking-in without an appointment any day of the year; though the company is pleased to announce they now offer patients another option: to check-in and view current wait times online from a computer, tablet, or mobile phone.
On the PhysicianOne Urgent Care website, patients can view the current wait time at any of the locations and can fill out a short form to check-in and hold her/his spot in line. Patients who check-in online will receive a text message alerting them when it is time to go to the urgent care center.
Founded in 2008 by three physicians in Connecticut, PhysicianOne Urgent Care is an industry-leader with 12 locations in Connecticut, two in Massachusetts, and two in New York, with additional growth anticipated throughout 2017. An additional center in Medford, Massachusetts will open in February.
“When we founded our original urgent care center in Connecticut, we did so with the goal of providing convenient access to quality, evidence-based urgent medical care to residents of the community during peak and otherwise unavailable times for a primary care provider,” said Dr. Jeannie Kenkare, Chief Medical Officer and founding partner. “We’re proud to now offer even easier and more convenient access to quality care for residents throughout Connecticut, Massachusetts, and New York.”
“Getting sick isn’t convenient. However, the care you receive should be,” said Andrea Tager, Director of Marketing. “We offer a solution that puts the patient in control, so they can get back to living their life, faster. Check-in from the comfort of your home or office… or the soccer field or subway. We’ll text you when it’s your turn. That’s healthcare for today’s person.”

Son kissing mother

I wanted to take a moment to thank you for the attention you gave me last week. My son was started on antibiotics and ear drops. Within 24 hours he began to feel better. The poor kid had been going to school in tears because he was afraid of missing any more days, but feeling (and looking) just awful! He's not been able to even think about lacrosse practice, but thanks to starting him on antibiotics, he was thrilled to return to practice today.
