How to Receive COVID-19 Testing
PhysicianOne Urgent Care offers COVID-19 testing for patients with or without symptoms. We offer PCR and Rapid (antigen) testing, as well as antibody testing. Simply walk in to be tested, or reserve your spot online for your test. You can also start your test with a Virtual COVID Visit, meeting with one of our providers via telehealth first, and your subsequent in-center test will be expedited. Common symptoms of COVID-19 include fever, cough, sore throat, body aches, loss of taste or smell, and general malaise, but these symptoms can also be attributed to the common cold and the flu. That’s why it’s a good idea to get tested to rule out COVID-19.
Here at our urgent care center, we also offer antibody testing. This test can determine whether COVID-19 virus antibodies are present in your blood, which means you had the virus at some point in the past, even if you didn’t have any symptoms. In fact, the World Health Organization estimates that up to 80% of cases are mild or asymptomatic. Getting tested for COVID-19 antibodies helps researchers learn more about the virus’s immunity and is an important first step in learning more about this virus.
24/7 Telehealth – Request a Virtual Visit
If you aren’t feeling well and would like to consult with a medical provider at PhysicianOne Urgent Care, you can do so without leaving home. Of course, we know the concept of telemedicine is new to some people, and it can take some getting used to. We understand that if you aren’t already familiar with telehealth, you might be hesitant to try it, but please don’t be intimidated! We’ve found that our patients largely value the convenience and personal attention they receive during their virtual visits with our providers. In addition to being a safe and effective way to deliver healthcare, telemedicine saves time and money, and can potentially improve health outcomes. Here’s how:
During a virtual visit, a patient who has a contagious disease can be assessed by a medical provider without any risk of exposing others to the illness. On the other hand, a patient who does not have a communicable health issue can also benefit from being seen remotely, since he or she will not have to leave home and risk being exposed to germs.
Telemedicine also helps our patients maintain their independence. Those who rely on others to provide transportation to and from their doctors’ offices are freed from those constraints, making it more likely that they will seek medical attention when necessary. While this can be helpful to anyone, it is particularly beneficial to elderly patients and those who have limited mobility.
Additionally, telemedicine easily allows for “group visits.” If a patient so chooses, he or she can have a trusted family member or friend present during a virtual consultation. Many experts recommend having “another set of listening ears” available during any health-related discussion—remote or otherwise—to help ensure that all concerns are addressed and all questions are answered during the session, as well as to better remember what was said later.
In offering telehealth services, our goal is to keep our patients as healthy and safe as possible. If you need medical attention for a non-life-threatening health issue, request a virtual telehealth visit with a PhysicianOne Urgent Care provider today.
