Flu Shots Available for Bristol, CT, Residents & Visitors

Flu Shots Bristol CTIf you need a flu shot and you’re in the Bristol, Connecticut, area, you can turn to PhysicianOne Urgent Care. We’re a trusted immediate care provider and we’re pleased to offer the influenza vaccine, as well as vaccinations for a number of other illnesses like diphtheria, hepatitis A, hepatitis B, pertussis (whooping cough), and tetanus.

How Does the Flu Vaccine Work?

Have you ever wondered exactly how a flu shot helps to protect you from getting the flu? It all comes down to how your immune system reacts to the vaccine. Seasonal flu shots contain weakened or inactive versions of the flu strains that are expected to be most common that year. When you receive a flu shot, your immune system reacts by producing antibodies designed to destroy each flu strain contained in the vaccine. In the event that you’re exposed to one of these strains again in the future, your immune system will be better equipped to quickly recognize it and produce the correct antibodies, thereby minimizing your chances of becoming ill with the flu.

Patient
Hamden, CT

"I had to take my son in for an ear infection following a sudden change in temperament at daycare. He was inconsolable the entire car ride but when we got there and by the time we left this care facility he was back to his normal happy go lucky little two year old boy. I highly recommend PhysicianOne Urgent Care."

Patient
Westwood, MA

"I wanted to take a moment to thank you for the attention you gave me last week. My son was started on antibiotics and ear drops. Within 24 hours he began to feel better. The poor kid had been going to school in tears because he was afraid of missing any more days, but feeling (and looking) just awful! He's not been able to even think about lacrosse practice, but thanks to starting him on antibiotics, he was thrilled to return to practice today."
