Are you rushing to meet the registration deadline for your child’s upcoming athletic season? Don’t worry—when your child needs a sports physical and you don’t have time to wait for an appointment with their pediatrician, you can turn to PhysicianOne Urgent Care. We’re one of the leading immediate care providers serving the Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts, community, and our local urgent care center offers sports physicals on a walk-in basis.

What Happens at a Sports Physical?

So, what is a sports physical, exactly? Unlike annual physicals—which also consider a child’s emotional, developmental, and social health—sports physicals are limited to determining whether a child is healthy enough to safely participate in a certain activity. In order to make this assessment, we’ll ask about your child’s medical and family histories and perform a physical examination.

To ensure that we can get everything accomplished in one visit, you’ll want to bring:

  • The forms provided by your child’s sports team
  • A copy of your child’s most recent immunization record
  • Your driver’s license and insurance card (if applicable)
  • $80 for payment (this is the flat fee we charge for school, sports, and camp physicals, which typically aren’t covered by insurance)

Offering Extended Hours for Our Patients’ Convenience

When you turn to PhysicianOne Urgent Care for your kid’s sports physical, you won’t need to worry about missing work or school. That’s because—like all of our locations—our Chestnut Hill urgent care center is open 365 days per year, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Best of all, you don’t need to make an appointment to be seen—simply stop in whenever you have the time, or check in online beforehand to reserve your spot in line. I had to take my son in for an ear infection following a sudden change in temperament at daycare. He was inconsolable the entire car ride but when we got there and by the time we left this care facility he was back to his normal happy go lucky little two year old boy. I highly recommend PhysicianOne Urgent Care.
