What Are the Symptoms of a UTI?
UTI symptoms can vary from person to person depending on a number of factors, including the area where the infection began and the type of microbe involved. However, one of the most common UTI symptoms is an intense, persistent urge to urinate but an inability to produce much urine. Other symptoms to watch out for include:
- Burning, stinging, or itching sensations while urinating
- Cloudy or foul-smelling urine
- Red, bright pink, or cola-colored urine
- Urine containing small blood clots
- Back pain or discomfort
- Fatigue
- An overall feeling of being unwell
- Pelvic pain (in women)
If a UTI has spread to your kidneys, you may also experience a fever, chills, confusion, nausea, vomiting, and pain in your side or upper back. Also keep in mind that UTIs don’t always cause noticeable symptoms.
