Understanding Asthma & Asthma Attacks

Asthma is a respiratory condition that affects the airways, causing general inflammation and difficulty breathing for those who have it. Effective asthma management, which may involve the use of an inhaler and the avoidance of certain risk factors, can help keep this condition in check. However, if symptoms like painful breathing, chest tightness, wheezing, and other signs become severe or suddenly increase in frequency, seeking effective asthma treatment from an urgent care center like PhysicianOne Urgent Care may be needed.

Our healthcare professionals are on hand to help administer asthma treatment and reduce the frequency of future flare ups. They can also help you understand the causes of your asthma attacks, with common culprits being:

  • Pollen, mold, and other allergens
  • Upper respiratory infections
  • Stress
  • Inhaling smoke, particularly tobacco smoke
  • Inhaling air that is cold and dry
  • Acid reflux or GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease)

The team of skilled and experienced physicians at our urgent care center can help you understand your asthma triggers and develop an individualized treatment plan depending on your needs.

Son kissing mother

I wanted to take a moment to thank you for the attention you gave me last week. My son was started on antibiotics and ear drops. Within 24 hours he began to feel better. The poor kid had been going to school in tears because he was afraid of missing any more days, but feeling (and looking) just awful! He's not been able to even think about lacrosse practice, but thanks to starting him on antibiotics, he was thrilled to return to practice today.
