Offering Sports Physicals on a Walk-In Basis in Norwalk, CT

Picture of children playing soccer.

When your child needs a sports physical but it’s outside of normal business hours, where will you turn? How about when the season is quickly approaching and you simply don’t have time to wait for an open appointment slot with your child’s pediatrician? If you’re in Norwalk, Connecticut, or the surrounding area, you can rely on PhysicianOne Urgent Care. We proudly offer walk-in sports physicals for families in this community.

What to Expect

If your child is new to playing sports, you may be wondering what a sports physical is and how it differs from an annual physical. While annual physicals tend to be more comprehensive—also considering a child’s developmental, emotional, and social health—a sports physical is focused on determining whether there are any health issues that would prevent a child from participating in their chosen sport. To reach this determination, one of our experienced providers will review your child’s medical and family histories and then conduct a physical examination.

If you’re concerned about whether your child will be able to participate, don’t give up hope—in many cases, accommodations can be made in order to ensure a safe playing experience. For instance, if your child has asthma, we might be able to prescribe a special inhaler for them to use at practice and during games. We’ll be happy to answer your questions and provide you with recommendations that are tailored to your child’s specific needs.

Son kissing mother

I wanted to take a moment to thank you for the attention you gave me last week. My son was started on antibiotics and ear drops. Within 24 hours he began to feel better. The poor kid had been going to school in tears because he was afraid of missing any more days, but feeling (and looking) just awful! He's not been able to even think about lacrosse practice, but thanks to starting him on antibiotics, he was thrilled to return to practice today.
