Are X-rays Used Only for Diagnosing Broken Bones?

While X-rays are most frequently used to diagnose fractures, they may be ordered for several other reasons as well. For instance, a physician may use X-ray images to aid in the diagnosis of a joint dislocation, embedded foreign object (such as a glass, metal, or wood splinter), digestive issue, kidney stone, or lung condition.

Who Interprets the X-rays?

When you receive an X-ray test at PhysicianOne Urgent Care, your images will be read by your treating provider and reviewed by a board-certified radiologist. We’ve implemented this two-step process for heightened accuracy.

How Is a Broken Bone Treated?

If you are diagnosed with a fracture, we may suggest a splint, cast, and/or crutches to stabilize your injury and promote proper healing. We may also recommend a pain-relieving medication to help you feel better in the meantime. If necessary, we can refer you to an orthopedic specialist near Groton and provide digital copies of your X-ray images to help ensure seamless follow-up care for your injury.

Son kissing mother
I wanted to take a moment to thank you for the attention you gave me last week. My son was started on antibiotics and ear drops. Within 24 hours he began to feel better. The poor kid had been going to school in tears because he was afraid of missing any more days, but feeling (and looking) just awful! He's not been able to even think about lacrosse practice, but thanks to starting him on antibiotics, he was thrilled to return to practice today.
