PhysicianOne Urgent Care and Wellforce Announce Partnership, Increasing Access to Convenient Care for Patients
Relationship affiliates four locations across Greater Boston with Tufts Medical Center
BOSTON, MA., March 19, 2019 – PhysicianOne Urgent Care and Wellforce today announced a partnership to provide coordinated urgent care to patients at PhysicianOne Urgent Care’s four locations across Greater Boston. PhysicianOne Urgent Care will clinically affiliate with Wellforce members Tufts Medical Center and MelroseWakefield Healthcare.
PhysicianOne Urgent Care patients in Chestnut Hill, Waltham and Westwood will have access to the physicians of Tufts Medical Center for follow up appointments and specialty care. In the Medford location, patients will be connected to MelroseWakefield Healthcare, including the Lawrence Memorial Hospital campus and physicians in Medford and MelroseWakefield Hospital in Melrose; and to Tufts Medical Center should an academic center be needed. Tufts Medical Center and MelroseWakefield Healthcare patients will benefit from increased access to evening, night and weekend care at PhysicianOne Urgent Care’s convenient locations. PhysicianOne Urgent Care’s providers will share their urgent care visit notes with each patient’s Tufts Medical Center or MelroseWakefield Healthcare primary care physician or specialist.
PhysicianOne Urgent Care’s Massachusetts locations include:
- 1210 Boylston Street, Chestnut Hill, Mass.
- 1019 Trapelo Road, Waltham, Mass.
- 4110 Mystic Valley Parkway, Medford, Mass.
- 211 University Avenue, University Station, Westwood, Mass.
“This partnership supports our mission to provide care when and where our patients need it. We have been impressed with the way PhysicianOne Urgent Care works collaboratively with the physicians and hospitals of Yale New Haven Health in Connecticut and New York, and look forward to introducing a similar model here in Massachusetts,” said Dr. Michael Wagner, interim Wellforce CEO.
“Inevitably, people get sick or injured after their primary care office has closed, but they don’t require the advanced services of an emergency department,” said Dr. Michael Apkon, Tufts Medical Center CEO. “Our relationship with PhysicianOne Urgent Care provides a seamless way to bridge this gap and ensure coordinated care, including communication with patients’ primary care doctors and appropriate referrals to Tufts Medical Center’s specialists.”
“We founded PhysicianOne Urgent Care with the goal of providing convenient access to high-quality, evidence based medical care in a state-of-the-art facility that focuses on the patient,” said Dr. Jeannie Kenkare, PhysicianOne Urgent Care co-founder and chief medical officer. “We’ve provided that great care for more than 10 years, and we look forward to working with the expansive network of providers within the Wellforce and Tufts Medical Center system to further expand access to patients across the Greater Boston area.”
“We are happy to see access to urgent care services extended throughout the community with PhysicianOne Urgent Care working collaboratively with our local community hospitals and physician practices, expanding our geographic availability upon on our current Urgent Care locations in Medford and Reading,” said Sue Sandberg, CEO, MelroseWakefield Healthcare.
The new partnership with PhysicianOne Urgent Care will expand Wellforce’s urgent care offerings to a total of 10 in Eastern Massachusetts. Circle Health has four urgent care sites in the Merrimack Valley and MelroseWakefield Healthcare has urgent care sites in Medford and Reading
PhysicianOne Urgent Care accepts most commercial insurances and no appointment is needed. Patients can walk in for same day care or check in online seven days per week, including holidays. PhysicianOne Urgent Care locations are open weekdays 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and weekends and holidays 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
