Are Telehealth Visits Covered by Insurance?

If you’re in need of medical care but you don’t want to attend an in-person visit—perhaps you don’t feel up to leaving the house or you want to avoid germ exposure (either to yourself or to others)—there’s an alternative available to you: a Virtual Visit from PhysicianOne Urgent Care. We’re pleased to offer a state-of-the-art telemedicine service that allows patients to connect with our experienced practitioners over a secure videoconferencing platform, all from the comfort of their own home.

You may be wondering if this level of convenience comes with a high price tag. If you’re like many of our patients, cost is one of your top concerns. You’ll be glad to know that our Virtual Visits are often covered by insurance. Coverage will depend on your specific insurance plan, but most commercial health insurance carriers (as well as Medicare and Medicaid) now cover telemedicine visits. You may want to check with your insurance carrier ahead of time to confirm whether your plan covers this type of service. If your insurance plan offers coverage, we’ll be happy to directly bill your carrier for the appointment.

What if You Don’t Have Insurance?

Even if you don’t currently have health insurance, or if you’re insured but your plan doesn’t cover telemedicine services, you’re still in luck. PhysicianOne Urgent Care offers a $130 self-pay rate for Virtual Visits. You’ll be able to indicate that you want to pay this way when you go to book your telemedicine appointment online.

Throughout the visit I felt like the staff really cared. The doctor took his time talking with me about my symptoms, and I felt like he listened to all my concerns and took that into consideration when recommending the right treatment. Thank you!
