Access Health CT is the state of Connecticut's insurance marketplace. In other words, it's a place for Connecticut residents and small business owners to shop for and purchase health insurance. Access Health CT was put in place to satisfy the requirements of what is colloquially known as Obamacare and more officially known as the Affordable Care Act (Health Care Reform Law). The Affordable Care Act requires all states to have a health insurance exchange by October 1, 2013. The state of Connecticut created Access Health CT in response.
To purchase health insurance coverage through Access Health CT, you must meet several criteria. Access Health CT is available to United States citizens and legal permanent residents who reside in Connecticut and are not incarcerated.
