PhysicianOne Urgent Care proudly offers flu shots and various other vaccinations — including those for diphtheria, hepatitis A, hepatitis B, pertussis (whooping cough), and tetanus — at our location in Stratford, Connecticut. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommend that all healthy individuals receive an annual flu shot, and it’s especially important to do so if you’re over 65, pregnant, have a weakened immune system, or have a chronic health condition like asthma, COPD, or heart disease.

Why Is It So Important to Get a Flu Shot?

Many people underestimate just how serious the flu can be. In some cases, an influenza infection can lead to serious complications that require hospitalization. Even if your infection isn’t that severe, you can still expect to miss a few days from work or school while you’re recovering, which isn’t feasible for many people. The flu can also cause a wide array of complications — such as bronchitis, dehydration, ear infections, pneumonia, and sinus infections — and the CDC estimates that the prescriptions needed to treat these conditions can cost anywhere from $50 to $100. And, if you have to visit an emergency room for flu complications, it could cost hundreds or even thousands of dollars.
Getting an influenza vaccine can help you avoid all of this. Plus, even if you do happen to get the flu after being vaccinated (this can happen if you become infected before the flu vaccine takes effect, or if you contract a less-common flu strain), your symptoms will be less severe.

At PhysicianOne Urgent Care, we strive to make life as easy as possible for our patients. That’s why we don’t require an appointment for flu shots or any of our other vaccinations. Simply walk in whenever it’s most convenient for you — our Stratford location is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., and on weekends and holidays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. We generally have most vaccines in stock, but feel free to call ahead of time to make sure we have what you need.
