How to Treat the Flu

Flu treatment varies depending on the person and the symptoms they are experiencing. For example, if you are over age 65, are pregnant, or have a weakened immune system, you’ll want to seek immediate medical attention for your symptoms, as you may be at greater risk of complications from the flu.

Most commonly, the flu is treated with an antiviral drug called Tamiflu that works by attacking the virus to stop it from multiplying. As a result, the severity of flu symptoms may be reduced and patients may recover sooner than they would had they not taken the medication. Tamiflu is most effective if given within 48 hours of symptom onset.

Virtual Flu Treatment

When you’re feeling under the weather, you may not feel up to visiting an urgent care center for flu treatment. That’s why we offer telemedicine services to our patients. "I had to take my son in for an ear infection following a sudden change in temperament at daycare. He was inconsolable the entire car ride but when we got there and by the time we left this care facility he was back to his normal happy go lucky little two year old boy. I highly recommend PhysicianOne Urgent Care."

Patient
Westwood, MA

"I wanted to take a moment to thank you for the attention you gave me last week. My son was started on antibiotics and ear drops. Within 24 hours he began to feel better. The poor kid had been going to school in tears because he was afraid of missing any more days, but feeling (and looking) just awful! He's not been able to even think about lacrosse practice, but thanks to starting him on antibiotics, he was thrilled to return to practice today."
