COVID-19 Testing Offered on a Convenient, Walk-In Basis in Glastonbury, CT

Picture of a doctor holding a swab for a COVID-19 test.If you’re experiencing symptoms of COVID-19, or if you’ve recently been exposed to someone with a suspected or confirmed case of the virus, you should get tested as soon as possible. Fortunately, if you’re in Glastonbury, Connecticut, you won’t need to go far. PhysicianOne Urgent Care—a trusted immediate care provider—proudly offers walk-in COVID-19 testing to patients in this community.

PCR Testing vs. Rapid Testing

If you’ve done any research into COVID-19 testing, you’ve probably seen that there are two types of tests available: polymerase chain reaction (PCR) tests and rapid antigen tests (both of which are offered at PhysicianOne Urgent Care). While PCR tests look for genetic material specific to COVID-19, rapid tests look for protein fragments specific to the virus. PCR test results are generally more accurate than rapid test results, but take longer to receive—rapid test results are often available in as little as 15 minutes, while PCR test results typically take 24 hours (or longer during peak periods).

PhysicianOne Urgent Care also offers COVID-19 antibody testing. This is a blood test that looks for IgM and IgG antibodies. Rather than diagnosing a current COVID-19 infection, an antibody test is generally used to determine whether someone was previously infected with the virus, and thus isn’t appropriate for a patient who’s currently experiencing COVID-19 symptoms.

Walk-In Testing Available

Many providers require appointments for COVID-19 testing, so you might assume that there’s no alternative. Luckily for you, if you’re in Glastonbury or the surrounding area, you can turn to PhysicianOne Urgent Care for walk-in COVID-19 testing. Our local urgent care center, which you’ll find at 2928 Main Street, is open every day of the year with extended hours.

Stop in whenever you have time, or cut down on your wait by checking in online ahead of time. You can also schedule a Virtual Visit to confirm whether you need to come in for an in-person test. We’ll provide you with the testing you need and, if necessary, recommend the appropriate treatments for COVID-19.

"The overall care I received was excellent! I also appreciate your affiliation with Yale New Haven Hospital."

Derby, CT

"Throughout the visit I felt like the staff really cared. The Doctor took his time talking with me about my symptoms, and I felt like he listened to all my concerns and took that into consideration when recommending the right treatment. Thank you!"

Hamden, CT

"I had to take my son in for an ear infection following a sudden change in temperament at daycare. He was inconsolable the entire car ride but when we got there and by the time we left this care facility he was back to his normal happy go lucky little two year old boy. I highly recommend PhysicianOne Urgent Care."

Westwood, MA

"I wanted to take a moment to thank you for the attention you gave me last week. My son was started on antibiotics and ear drops. Within 24 hours he began to feel better. The poor kid had been going to school in tears because he was afraid of missing any more days, but feeling (and looking) just awful! He's not been able to even think about lacrosse practice, but thanks to starting him on antibiotics, he was thrilled to return to practice today."
