Free Tick Removers in Massachusetts and Westchester County, New York, This Weekend

To help combat a bad tick “season”, PhysicianOne Urgent Care is giving away complimentary tick removers in Massachusetts and Westchester County, New York, May 10 through May 13.
WESTWOOD, MA., MAY 9, 2018 — It only takes 48-hours of above-freezing temperatures for ticks to become active. And, this tick “season”, PhysicianOne Urgent Care is helping residents in Massachusetts and Westchester County, NY combat the potentially dangerous pests.
This Thursday through Sunday – May 10 through May 13 – PhysicianOne Urgent Care locations in Massachusetts (Chestnut Hill, Medford, Waltham, and Westwood) and Westchester County, New York (Mohegan Lake and Baldwin Place) are handing out free Original Tick Keyâ tick removers, while supplies last.
Ticks can carry a range of diseases, including Lyme disease, that are harmful to humans. So, it’s important to check yourself and your family (including any pets) for ticks after any time spent outdoors and to remove any ticks, as soon as possible.
“With the slight rise in temperature after a long winter, we all want to be outdoors. Whether you’re hiking, doing yard work, or spending any time at all in grassy or wooded areas, be sure to check yourself for ticks,” says Dr. Jeannie Kenkare, Chief Medical Officer and co-founder of PhysicianOne Urgent Care.
You can reduce your risk of being bitten by a tick and being exposed to a tick-borne illness by using insect repellent and wearing long sleeves and long pants tucked into socks when walking through wooded areas. If you are bitten by a tick, removing the tick within 24-hours will greatly reduce your risk of getting Lyme disease. Therefore, performing daily tick checks is important so a tick can be removed before it transmits Lyme disease.
If you suspect you’ve been bitten by a tick, visit your nearest PhysicianOne Urgent Care for evaluation and treatment, as soon as possible. PhysicianOne Urgent Care also removes ticks.
PhysicianOne Urgent Care has hours that extend beyond the normal primary care provider hours, and has locations across Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Westchester County, New York. Walk in or check-in online to any PhysicianOne Urgent Care location, seven days per week.

Son kissing mother

I wanted to take a moment to thank you for the attention you gave me last week. My son was started on antibiotics and ear drops. Within 24 hours he began to feel better. The poor kid had been going to school in tears because he was afraid of missing any more days, but feeling (and looking) just awful! He's not been able to even think about lacrosse practice, but thanks to starting him on antibiotics, he was thrilled to return to practice today.
