Your mental health is equally as important as your physical health, which is why we are partnering with CHE Behavioral Health Services to expand access to mental health care. Our patients in Connecticut and New York can be referred by our providers, or self-refer, and connect with a CHE mental health professional via virtual visit.

It’s easy to recognize when our bodies physically don’t feel well. When our mind is uneasy and we feel overwhelmed with an array of emotions, it is less visible to the outside world and it’s hard to know when it’s time to seek help. Here are three important ways to better tune into your mental health and put an end to the stigma surrounding it:

1. Talk openly about how you feel with people in your life that you trust and foster an open environment for others

Struggling with anxiety, depression or other mental health issues is more common than most of us realize. A 2021 CDC study revealed that more than 40% of adults reported recent symptoms of anxiety or a depressive disorder.

The more we openly discuss our emotions and mental health, the more likely we’ll realize that others might be going through similar situations and we can help one another. Lend a listening ear and encourage your friends and loved ones to seek professional help as needed. Even a simple “how are you doing?” can go a long way.

2. Seek out key resources for handling mental health struggles

The National Alliance on Mental Health has some great resources on better understanding mental health. Additionally, our behavioral health services partner CHE Behavioral Health’s blog covers a variety of relevant topics such as self-care, benefits of teletherapy and tips for managing anxiety

Additionally, the CDC provides advice on different coping mechanisms to help cool our intense emotions in a healthy manner. Find which healthy coping techniques work best for you.

3. Sign up with our partner CHE to speak with a mental health professional

Speaking with a mental health professional has never been easier and there are many benefits to seeking professional help. These professionals can provide guidance, support and a safe, unbiased and confidential space to help you navigate through turbulent times.

CHE’s licensed psychologists and therapists will now be available to help PhysicianOne patients within 24-48 hours from the comfort of their own home through a virtual visit.
