Emergency Medical Services You Didn’t Know You Could Get At an Urgent Care Facility

emergency servicesEmergency rooms provide critical services and procedures in response to life-threatening physical problems. Unfortunately, they aren’t well-suited for patients who need timely help with non-life-threatening health issues. In turn, more and more people are relying on urgent care facilities, which offer prompt medical service from experienced physicians.
A Broad Spectrum of Care
In addition to providing treatment for a host of common general illnesses, PhysicianOne Urgent Care offers on-site digital x-ray capabilities to help diagnose and treat a wide array of illnesses and injuries. As a full-service walk-in urgent care clinic, we’re able to provide quick in-house imaging services, which means you’ll never have to travel to have your results interpreted. Each x-ray is reviewed by an on-site, board-certified radiologist, who will identify the problem and decide whether you need a cast, a brace, or surgical intervention.
With that said, our on-site x-ray technology isn’t just useful for fractures and broken bones. It can also play a critical role in diagnosing a number of health complications, including:

  • Foreign bodies
  • Joint dislocations
  • Pneumonia
  • Bowel obstructions and stomach issues
  • Kidney stones
  • Fluid or congestion in the lungs

Tests and Lab Services
In addition to providing x-ray services, PhysicianOne Urgent Care offers an array of tests and lab services to help identify potentially serious health problems. Because these services are all located on-site, patients immediately receive the testing they need and get the results shortly after. With state-of-the-art lab capabilities, we’re able to perform numerous tests, including:

  • Strep throat
  • Influenza (the flu)
  • Mononucleosis
  • Hemoglobin
  • Pregnancy
  • Urinalysis
  • Glucose
  • I-Stat (basic metabolic panel) for electrolyte imbalance and kidney problems
  • Hemoccult- Important marker for rectal bleeding and colon cancer

We also provide an on-site pharmacy, so you can get the medications you need, when you need them. This includes eye drops, topical medications for rashes and burns, anti-diarrheal medications, steroids, anti-nausea drugs, muscle relaxers, allergy medications, anti-inflammatory medications, antibiotics, and limited pain medications.
With so many medical services available without the need for an appointment, urgent care facilities are a great alternative to busy ERs. As one of the state’s premier full-service walk-in providers, PhysicianOne Urgent Care is proud to be one of the most popular choices for Connecticut residents.

"Throughout the visit I felt like the staff really cared. The Doctor took his time talking with me about my symptoms, and I felt like he listened to all my concerns and took that into consideration when recommending the right treatment. Thank you!"

Patient
Hamden, CT

"I had to take my son in for an ear infection following a sudden change in temperament at daycare. He was inconsolable the entire car ride but when we got there and by the time we left this care facility he was back to his normal happy go lucky little two year old boy. I highly recommend PhysicianOne Urgent Care."

Patient
Westwood, MA

"I wanted to take a moment to thank you for the attention you gave me last week. My son was started on antibiotics and ear drops. Within 24 hours he began to feel better. The poor kid had been going to school in tears because he was afraid of missing any more days, but feeling (and looking) just awful! He's not been able to even think about lacrosse practice, but thanks to starting him on antibiotics, he was thrilled to return to practice today."
